Building on the work-life balance workshops we developed, we teamed up with the Medical School at UCL to develop a new series of workshops aimed at junior doctors who struggle with issues of work-life balance and burnout. This work is funded by UCL Grand Challenges and is led by Prof Anna Cox and Dr Antonia Rich.

Since March 2018, we have been running a series of workshops with postgraduate medical trainees with the aim of enhancing resilience and improving well-being. The first part of the workshop will look at how we can increase our resilience through self-care, and the second part of the workshop will look at how creating microboundaries can support boundary management in the digital age. Throughout the workshop, participants will be encouraged to reflect on their own experiences and share with others, both the issues and the practical steps that have helped them in the past.

Because we realise that taking time out of one’s schedule can be a big commitment, we have also developed a digital version of the workshop so that participants can take part in it at their own time and pace. This digital workshop ran in June 2018.

Ultimately, the iWARDs (Individualised Wellbeing and Resilience for Doctors) project aims to develop interventions to improve junior doctors’ well-being.To learn more about it and check for any upcoming events and workshops, visit our website.
